A former pharmacy-technician trainee at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Little Rock took part in a conspiracy to distribute opioids. According to the report, the drugs had been stolen from a hospital supplier by a co-worker.

On a Wednesday in mid-February 2018, a federal judge sentenced the former trainee to two and a half years in prison for her role in the scheme.

The case arose from a federal investigation that had charged three employees of the same hospital with conspiring to steal and distribute prescription medication, one of whom pleaded guilty in September 2017.
