The Nevada State Board of Pharmacy's Executive Secretary filed a Notice of Intended Action and Accusation against a registered pharmaceutical technician in August 2017. The accusation states that in July 2017 a pharmacy coordinator for a grocery-chain pharmacy notified Board staff that the company had terminated the technician for cause.
According to the accusation, the employer conducted a drug test of all pharmacy associates on June 30, 2017. The technician's screen was reported positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, opiates, codeine, morphine and oxycodone. The lead coordinator and a loss prevention manager then met with the technician to discuss the results.
The accusation alleges that during that interview the technician acknowledged a drug problem, said she was seeking treatment at a methadone clinic, and acknowledged diverting hydrocodone/acetaminophen, amphetamine salts and oxycodone from the pharmacy by removing two to three tablets from patients' bottles when prescriptions were at the ready status of the filling process, approximately 10 to 15 times.
The Board charged violations of NRS 453.331 and NRS 453.336, with discipline sought under NRS 639.210 and NRS 639.255. The filing is a charging document, and the Board's eventual disposition of the technician's registration is not contained in the text available here.
