A nurse from Washingtonville in New York's Hudson Valley, licensed as both a licensed practical nurse and a registered professional nurse, was charged by the New York State Education Department with a pattern of unaccounted-for medication withdrawals.
According to the Regents summary, on more than one occasion she withdrew medications ostensibly for patient administration when there was no physician's order for those medications, and she then failed to account for their disposition, whether by administration to a patient, documented wastage, or any other means. The release does not name the medications or the facility, and it does not describe how the discrepancies were identified.
The nurse admitted to the charge and applied to surrender her licenses rather than proceed to a hearing. The Board of Regents granted the surrender of both licenses at the meeting whose actions were announced in March 2017, the same meeting at which it voted on several license restoration petitions on March 13, 2017.
