A pharmacy technician was employed at a grocery-chain retail pharmacy in Oklahoma. On May 9, 2025 the State Board of Pharmacy received a DEA 106 theft or loss form from that pharmacy, which triggered a Board investigation.
During the investigation the technician admitted to stealing hydrocodone and alprazolam from both stock bottles and filled customer bottles. In a voluntary written statement dated May 13, 2025 the technician admitted taking one bottle of 60 alprazolam tablets for personal use, stealing two stock bottles of hydrocodone containing 100 tablets each and selling them at $5 per pill to people she knew, and stealing a 140-tablet bottle of hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10mg/325mg that was passed out through the pharmacy drive-thru. The pharmacy terminated the technician on May 13, 2025.
The technician's permit expired on May 31, 2025 and was cancelled on July 1, 2025 for failure to renew. The Board nonetheless proceeded with the disciplinary case and held a hearing on August 13, 2025, concluding the technician had violated the Pharmacy Act's prohibition on possessing dangerous drugs without a valid prescription and its professional conduct rules.
The Board proposed to permanently revoke the pharmacy technician permit and assess a $2,000 fine payable within 30 days of its order. The Oklahoma Attorney General's office issued a supervisory letter in 2026 finding the proposed action consistent with the state's policy to protect public health, safety and welfare.
