On June 18, 2019, a physician who practiced in Jackson Township was found guilty on 187 counts for operating a pill mill in which opioids and other drugs were prescribed without a legitimate medical purpose.
The jury found the physician guilty of involuntary manslaughter, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, several counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, Medicaid fraud, grand theft, tampering with records, and illegal processing of drug documents Sentencing was scheduled for July 3, 2019.
